Your Money Under More Scrutiny

Wow, this will be a big change... so much for presumed innocence, the banks will be tracking EVERYTHING. Here is a quote:

"Any unexplained deposit will get you calls from the bank or the authorities, and you better have the correct answers"

This is supa fun!

Some are easy, some are tough... Images show up, you have to guess the word that was used to search google images for all those images to show. Pretty fun. 8-)

Great Info... Sure would like to make this happen!!!

BRILLIANT!!!

"All the things that we need to do to solve global warming are things that we ought to be doing for our economy and to assure our prosperity anyway.  If we raise fuel-efficiency standards by one mile per gallon, we can yield more oil...twice the amount of oil that's in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.  If we raise fuel-economy standards by 5.6 or 7.6 miles per gallon, we can end our Persian Gulf imports into this country.  We would be able to end our dependence on foreign dictators who hate democracy, who are despised by their own people."

BA Update: To Califate & Glaciers

Hey all, sorry for the delays in posting. We had confirmed with our travel agent that we had internet connection at the 2 hotels we were booked at... turns out they were down in both hotels, Calafate and Ushuaia! Feckin' hard to work when I can't connect. 8-(

The upside is that the trip was great... cold but beautiful, interesting natural and human phenomena. Overall, we did a boat to walking tour of the glacier, walked on the ice, then a view of the top at a park stop. Next day we had a boat tour to several more glaciers, that night we did a tour/dinner of an "estancia" the spanish word for ranch. They raise and shear sheep for their wool.

Ushuaia is next. I'll work on the pix in the next few days... it was colder, but an even better time in a more amazing place. We even met some great people... 8-)

BA Update: Calafate

Hey All,
Marcela and I made it to Calafate today, checking email from a local "locutorio" a cybercafe-telephone shop. Interesting place, very desolate, beautiful mountains. We are going trekking on the glacier tomorrow, and taking a boat ride to 3 other ones on monday. Sunday is horseback riding and a sheep farm tour, with shearing and other demos, how wool is made and local "folclore" music. Should be lotsa fun... it´s only about 50 degrees F, not as cold as we thought.

Hope you all are well, this damn spanish keyboard is driving me nuts, everything but the letters are all in different places, shifts, punctuation etc. 8-)
It took me 10 minutes to find the @ sign... heh.

Shalom, Charlie and Marcela

BA Update: Travel to Patagonia

Marcela and I are heading down south... to the glacier town of Calafate for a few days, then down to the "end of the world" Ushuaia in Tierra del Fuego. It'll be cold, but very fun. Here are some links that we are looking at before we go.

Califate: There are 3 glaciers there, we can walk on one, and/or take a boat up to another and go near the cracks.

and some of the other outings/activities we can do:

Side note: The second website I ever worked on back in 1995 was for the US clothing company Patagonia Sportswear. It's super kool that now I'm going to be able to see some of the places it was named for.

We'll let you know how it goes, our hotels are supposed to have internet, but we'll see if I can post pix.

Happy Monday!

BA Update: Capoeira in the Park

The weekend before last, we hit a local park to shop, sorta an arts show, very kool. Lots of people sittin' around in clear areas, enjoying the weather. Some folks practicing and demo-ing capoeira, the Brazillian dance/martial art. I understand tht Brazillian slaves came up with it because they couldn't practice any "martial art" but they could dance. So they came up with a self-defense system that looked more like a dance/acrobatics... pretty smart and very kool to watch. I made about a 6 minute iMovie video with some good tunes to show what we saw. Enjoy.

I posted it at .mac info, a review site... you can vote for it there if ya like it. 8-)

BA Update: Mar del Plata weekend

Hey Pals, Here's a link to a few shots of our weekend in Mar del Plata, about 5 hours south of BA on the coast. Nice place, but mostly a summer destination. We had a great time.

What ya think?

Scary: How to find nuclear power plants

A scary tale of how a blogger/internet enthusiast found out the exact coordinates of a US Nuclear Power Plant online... of course this info is classified by the US Gov. The government requires pilots not to fly near nuclear power plants, and then does not tell them where those plants are, because of security concerns. Here's a story about how someone found the exact location of the nuclear power plant in Oyster Creek, N.J., using only publicly available information.

But of course a terrorist would never be able to do that.

"The internet is a great thing. Many people and organizations put a lot of information on their websites, which only have to be combined. If done properly, it’s interesting how much information can be retrieved within a very short time."
